How the authority would like to address such issues of profiteering?
The retailer had another box packed in December 2016 had MRP of Rs. 1399/- and has been sold at Rs. 1,095/- by giving discount of 3% on Rs.1,129/- when the consumer raised a point of GST reduction from 28% to 18%. He had the box packed of January 2018 but had delivered the box of December 2016 packed. But none of the box had any sticker of revised MRP on 11/08/2018.
Is it not amounting to profiteering and how it can be established the allegation of profiteering. The consumer will not have any access to the records of the retailers pre and post reduction in GST rates and whether the Authority would like to look into the issue on its own. more
In any case, it is a known fact that the retail invoices are different for consumers and sales tax department's assessment. Very large percentage of the tax so collected is not paid to the state exchequer.
The gain and loss to a retailer is measured for a period/term whatever the date of purchase or sale. more
