How to keep kids away from Gadgets?
Can someone please suggest practicaly ways of how to keep kids (between age 2-7) away from our phones? I just fail to and any ideas would be appreciated. more

Thanks to all three of you. I wish we had a joint family here. Unfortunately, at many times to keep them occupied because we have things to do, we end up using these gadgets. Sometimes to make sure they eat. Will follow Dr. Verma's and Dr. Sikka's advise. Thanks! more

I too agree with Dr. Verma. Setting an example yourself is important with children. But I would also like to say that no matter what you do with your phone, children still seem to be attracted to them. I have an android myself and am the last one to use majority of its features. However, the minute my 7 year old gets his hands on it, he has opened up some new application and has busied himself with it. But don't you all find that it is not just phones, but I-pads, computers, TVs..... the list is endless. Kids these days are just more tuned into gadgets than the real world out there. I find keeping his schedule really tight with activities does not allow his any spare/idol time to thik about playing with a gadget. Also, if you set an example of an outdoor, active life style, or even choose to spend your spare time reading a boook or playing a board game, the child will also think about doing something other than sitting down with a gadget whenever he or she has some spare time... more

I struggle with this myself but I agree with Dr. Verma's wise words. We, I have downloaded apps on iPhone and given to my kids to play so I can do other things and soon it becomes daily routine for them. We have to not rely on gadgets with kids atleast till they are 8-9. more

First of all stop being on your phones all the time in front of the children, do not encourage them to play games or run any apps on the phone and they will then stay away from the phones. more
