Human rights to patients signing NOC at hospitals?
Before surgical processes and many other similar treatment procedures, patients and/or their relatives are bound or forced to sign a consent form having a generalized statement -"if something happens during the procedure, neither the Dr. or hospital would be blamed". And often Doctors negligence leads to other complications such as cut to other organs, excess bleeding, forgetting some surgical tool inside the body, sometimes even death. As a consumer, if patient or their relatives have any rights to get treatment without signing such consent forms. And as a consumer, what can be done if any casualty/complication is observed after signing such forms. more
Very true but unfortunately many a times we are helpless.. as we have a different frame of mind at that juncture.. But this is also true in lot many other documents where we put a tick in the box as 'I agree' without even reading what is given.. Even banks, MFs etc ask us to tick the box that we have read the rules and regulations without which one can not even see his a/c balance..We probably do not have any solution today but I am sure we may have a 'Ralph Nader' amongst us..sooner.. more
Renu excellent point - I completely agree with you ....I would also like to add here the patient's relatives at that moment are not in the right frame of mind else they should also ask the doctor's degree and whether he is registered with the association ....health and medical are one of the areas where my views are that there is huge scope of improvement. Especially as someone pointed out, and I would say ...doctors when they are experienced should work on technology and leverage it to work on the health of the patient. more
