Hungry man scavenges for food in in garbage

Yesterday, The Hindu newspaper had a post of a hungry man scavenging for food.
It was sad to read and see a man scavenging for food in a garbage dump in Hassan, Karnataka (Hungry man with no help scanenges for food, the Hindu dt 2-May). The man was earning his daily bread by loading ginger bags. Surely, the one who employed him could have at least provided basic food for him until he could find another job or return home. There must be many more untold stories lke this. Unfortunately the govt has not learnt from the guest laborers plight of last year. No provision has been made to take care of their basic needs, either by them or their employers. The govt is only giving reliefs to businesses but not asking them to take care of their guest laborers.
Inhuman it is. more

It is a surprise as to how a middleman can get Govt. money without due process of verification. If that was so, it was a big scam that should have been investigated and culprits punished. more
Dear Learned Readers......Lakhs of NGOs in India commits that they are distributing free meals to the needy. Where the hell these meals are distributed in India. OUR Hon. Politicians says they had distribute raw food grains to the needy worth CRORES of rupees. Who are the people taking benefits????? I am sorry to say People would buy Liquor and Gasoline at any rate but will not feed a poor for 50.00 rupees. Shame on US. more
Totally agree. Yes, dignity must be given to these labourers, who indeed are guests, but ones that keep the local state economies running. Calling them migrant was the first indignity. On the other hand Govt has only one solution, used before many others, lockdown. Govt may have given rations or cash transfers, but a lot more was needed, both food and medical aid for the dying. Lockdown one after another, yet the disease spreading. more
Last Year States provided Cash, Food. Contractors, Agents, Middleman Ran away Switching off their Phones also as per the TOI Bangalore News last Year. This is Why Lockdown left to States for Partial Application THIS YEAR. more
Middlemen are the mediators Supplying Workers to Contractors/Agents, Builders, Institutions more
Who brought the middleman in picture? He should be made answerable to loss of Govt. cash. more
