Hydrogen fuel cells

We very well know that India does not have enough oil and gas resources for its transportation sector. That is why large imports cause huge CAD. I know BJP is a avid promoter of renewables, but current renewable technology can't support transportation industry and batteries have clearly failed in western market. Subbramaniam swamyji is a fervent supporter of hydrogen fuel cells, but I was very disappointed when there was no such mention of the hydrogen economy in BJP manifesto.

It is true that this technology is still to mature, but major automobile manufacturers around the world are pushing for fuel cell cars quite seriously. Europe, Canada, Japan and Korea are readying to have fuel cell vehicles on their roads. Fuel cells have the biggest advantage of near zero emission.

On the other hand, our country does not have even a single world class research facility for the same. I hope that Modi government puts some impetus on the same. more
