I beg to differ. Charges across the board should be the same. Deterrence to people to make reservations in advance in anticipation. more

It is okay about the doubling of the cancellation charges ; but it is not at all justified to levy cancellation charges on ticket that that failed to give the seat or the birth choice of the passenger. For example when an elder citizen seeks a lower birth as the choice ; while booking in the net he/she doesn't know what birth is being offered till the payment is made . After the payment only the passenger comes to know that his/her choice birth isn't offered ;it becomes too late to change the ticket . He has to shell out money to cancel and buy another one . Again what is the guarantee that the choice birth or seat will be given? RAILWAYS HAS TO INDICATE THE NATURE OF THE BIRTH L / M / U DEFINITELY BEFORE THE PAYMENT . IF THE OPTED BIRTH IS NOT OFFERED THE SENIOR CITIZEN WILL HAVE THE CHOICE TO BOOK ON ANOTHER DAY OR TRAIN. more

In my opinion, cancellation charges should be at least 50% of the fare amount. There are those people who book tickets in multiple trains saying whatever train i wish to, I will travel in that, its only 20 ruppees na ( Now increased - but not enough ), we will pay that 20 rupees. They deny other the option of even getting a ticket. more

There is no meaning in levying so huge cancellation charges. The very spirit of advance reservations is vitiated. more
