I request the MODI Govt to make available simple and clean toilets and dustbins which are regularly emptied at all public places so that we do not have to carry waste looking for places to throw more

I fully agree that we urgently need to have more garbage bins in all public areas and on roads, etc. One should never have to look for find a problem in locating one. There are a very large number of people who would not litter, only if they could easily find a garbage bin whenever required. more

Above all suggestions I believe we should make not only public but official of the each district responsible for the garbage in the area. Like District Magistrate, Mayor Municipal Corporation, Chairman Municipality etc. and action should be taken by them against house owners, shop keepers, small vendors if garbage is found littered by them in their area. more

Scope of this "Abhiyaan" needs to be extended to ensure longer lasting effect:- a) Increase use of biodegradable packing material b) Reduce use of non biodegradable material. c) Ban certain plastic material production and offer alternate jobs to affected people. d) Plan proper garbage storing, collection, transport, sorting and disposal arrangements. e) Earmark solid waste dumping sites and maintain them f) Chemical/radio active/hazardous material policy on above lines g) Spraying/dusting of garbage areas h) Provision of trained personnel, personal equipment, transport, disposal facilities i) Conversion of biodegradable material into manure and supply to concerned parties j) Garbage bins/dumps to be user friendly, easy to empty and clean, easy to handle, animal scavenging proof k) Inclusion of topic in school social studies curriculum and frequent cleanliness campaigns l) Prevail upon shopkeepers not to throw garbage on roads/roadsides m) Prevail upon housekeepers not to throw garbage on roads/roadsides n) Take heed of news reports o) Garbage nuisance reporting telephone center with all responsibilities to take corrective action p) Offenders repeating/abetting garbage law violations to be felicitated. q) Every house/shop to maintain frontage area up to middle of road r) Productive/constructive end use of garbage without pollution s) avoid use of very small packs like sachets more

I agree, but this should not be an excuse to throw litters. If we have to carry them for miles to find the bins we have to carry them. I have seen this in abroad were people carry the waste in the back seat of the car till they find the bins. When they find one, they park the car and walk up to the bin and throw the waste properly. They do not throw from the distance and litter around the bins. more

Sir, agree with you. Only PM pushing on subject shall not yield expected results. Govt. should keep at least one dustbin every lane or half km carrying marks - liquid, plastic and others, bottles/canes and dry waste. Only looking and talking about foreign lands shall be less helpful. Act is most important besides awareness. more
