Absolutely agree with M/s Brij Gupta and Kalaga. The responsibility to check and pay as per MRP rests with us and now madam Shivani wants to outsource this too to the government department !! How much more will the government keep assisting us after having got he MRP printing mandatory on items. And even if this starts to happens, then someone will start to complain about the over bearing GOI and "Big brother is watching you". And in case we give a few extra rupees to an economically weaker person, would it not add to our good karma, am sure Ms. Shivani Batra can afford it and is instead wasting everybody's time by highlighting such petty concerns. We need to remember, I have the choice to purchase it or not, to eat ice cream or not. We need to raise the level of conversations to more meaningful and pressing issues. more

When we see Ice Creams, we often forget to check the price. Chocobars are also available in differing sizes according to their weights ( 5 ml & 10 ml - contents) so that too has to be kept in mind. Vendors usually do not short charge customers as price is printed. However in Trains and at Stations, the MRP is given a miss and Rs.5/- extra are charged by the vendors. more  

From her comment, I am not able to asses the location of Shivani Batra. I persume, it is DELHI. Now, I can speak about Chennai. In Marina Beach, Chennai - Kwality Walls or Arun ice cream or Vadilal or Amul ice cream are sold from push carts which clearly exibits the Company Logo and Brand name. They also carry a printed Rate list. The prices in the Rate list are always HIGHER than prices of similar ice cones, Frozen desserts or ice creams sold elsewhere in the city. I have brought up this matter to the notice of some company officials and their comment was " THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF LOCAL ISSUES " (which effectively means a) they DO NOT CONTROL THEIR RETAIL VENDOR ..b) the 'local issues' cover payment of HAFTA to the Policemen and the local Muncipal Councillor...!!..) I WONDER WHY THE POWEFUL MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES ARE " POWERLESS " AGAINST SUCH PRACTICES...??.. more
