Identity Cards
I am a Indian citizen (resided in India for 30 years) now residing in Canada. I would like to explain few points in the system which can be implemented in our India.
We have lot of Identity cards in India- Adhaar Card, Voter id Card, Driving license, ration card etc. Applying for these cards and maintaining of these cards are hectic. I always hated to go to government offices for applying anything because of the hectic procedures, documents, attested copies of the documents, staff shortages, time delay etc
Cant we eliminate all these cards and make only one identity card such as drivers license which can be accepted at all centers.
Here in Canada, there is Passport, Citizenship card/Permanent Resident Card and then Driving license. Driving license (with magnetic strip) is accepted as main ID proof at most of the places and we need to carry only that for anything.
Why cant we bring the same thing in India?
Keeping the passport (the top most ID proof) and giving the driving license main ID proof status. Cant we introduce Indian Citizenship Card like that? more
