If Govt desire some meaningful improvement in transport quality and air quality, it must:

1) take UP and Haryana Govts into confidence and devise common road map to ensure strict compliance of the SC orders regarding reduction of pollution like no entry of old aged vehicles, passers by vehicles through Delhi, conversion of Diesel cabs into CNG cabs etc.

2) Must pursue Central Govt to expedite construction of all by-passes and peripheral roads.

3) establish cost effective and convenient last mile connectivity through best quality feeder buses.

4) Must increase its existing buses by atleast 25%,

5) Introduce some effective transport for the upper middle class to provide attractive alternative to car users.

6) Continued pursuance by law enforcers to ensure pollution control compliance by polluting projects.

Recently, Delhi Govt. revisited 46 construction sites, challaned 1 month back, and found at 42 sites breach of pollution norms and challaned them again. Such perpetual visits will compel violators to think that they can't escape by just paying Rs.50K once and may be caught again.

Of the above, most important aspect is last mile connectivity. I offen do not use public transport for long distance because I am not sure how I will travel 2-3 km further to reach my destination. This is a very practical problem to acknowledge. more

Many of the PUC centres are not equipped to certify some vehicles. For example i10 Hyundai petrol vehicle is not getting certified at all the PUC centres. Delhi Govt. should ensure that the PUC cetres are equipped with the required software and vehicle owners are not put into inconvenience. Further in many states including M.S. the PUC is valid for 6 month and not 3 months as in the case of Delhi. more
