Illegal Sonograms to determine pre natal sex
All over India, esp in north India, sonograms are done illegally or unofficially to determine sex of child before birth.
Even some of the reputed doctors, indicate indirectly what a couple is having. some take money and tell you. Thousands of cases are filed but another Tens of Thousands go uncaught.
Not sure what role Consumer department can play but also not sure which department can. local police is useless on this. chances are many constables are taking their wives there too and availing free service.

I experienced this in UP when my wife was carrying. The dr was ready to reveal the sex of the fetus that too without any extra charges. more

Our society will not change so early. The feelings of daughter is still a burden in our society in each state. "beti bachao, beti pardhao" slogan might has an impact of hardly 5-10% . Solutions (1) Let there be proper education among the people by the NGO etc (2) Females can be given preference in education, jobs and higher studies (3) Up to 12th Standard the girl`s education should be free of cost (4) All the sonography centers must be computerized that how many cases are done and the reason behind it . If there is anything wrong is found that Sonography center should be punished. (5) If any Govt Official is found to go for the abortion because of the Girl Child, his service is liable to be terminated!! more
