Implementation of your Inputs in 2015

While the list is long, here are some of the key inputs submitted via circle whitepapers that have been incorporated to improve passenger services, cleanliness, safety, Railway operations, reservations etc. We look forward to your participation in Budget 2016 as well continued inputs through out the year.

Key Circle Inputs implemented in 2015

1) Provision of All India Security Helpline - 182
2) Provision of All India Passenger Helpline - 138
3) ECatering by IRCTC via phone and website on 45 stations
4) Water Vending Machines set up initiated by IRCTC
5) Executive Lounge - Set up by IRCTC at New Delhi, 48 stations in process
6) Computerised Parcel Management implemented on 5 routes
7) Computerization of Retiring Room booking at over 400 locations
8) Trial of paperless unreserved ticketing through mobile in multiple locations
9) Destination alerts through SMS in Rajdhani and Duranto trains
10) Currency/Card operated Automatic Ticket Vending Machines
11) Concession based ticketing including online for physically challenged persons using Railway issued photo id cards
12) Lower births quota increase for senior citizens: Quota doubled from 2 to 4 lower births per coach
for sleeper
13) All ticketing agents debarred for first 30 minutes i.e. from 8 am to 8:30 am (general), from 10 am to 10:30 am (Tatkal AC) and from 11 am to 11:30 am (Tatkal Non AC)
14) Automatic Refund of Confirmed/RAC e-tickets on train cancellation
15) Fitment of dustbins in all coaches including non AC coaches
16) Successful Train Protection Warning System trials completed which if implemented can eliminate accidents caused by human error
17) Integrated Security (5 stations)/CCTV (10 stations) systems commissioned
18) Work initiaited in making level crossings safer as well as improving Train Collision Avoidance System
19) 74 trains now covered under Onboard House Keeping and 1000 trains classified for this category
20) Special focus on keeping trains and stations clean
21) Intensive ticket checking drives leading to detection of 1.6 lakh cases and recover of 9 crores of Railway revenue
22) Addressing multiple gaps highlighted by citizens in reservation processes to minimize touts taking undue advantage in ticketing.
23) Increase in reservation handling/processing capacity via IRCTC website through timely server upgrades. more

SL. #12 is a welcome one. However there are chances of misuse by ineligible passengers (I.e. other than senior citizens) claiming the quoto and later paying the difference of fare while traveling. This is gross misuse by passengers. This can be seen from the fact that the quota is filled up fast nowadays. more
