First if we start strictly adhering to road sense and follow traffic rules strictly half the problems will be solved automatically. Secondly the authorities should enforce the laws. more
I Agree with Arvind, That is one of the key differentiators between us and any other country. Even at a small country people abide by the signs. I think illiteracy may be a reason and just anybody can drive if you know to run a car is not enough. Strict vigilance is required at Road and Transport departments issuing licenses. Arvind's suggestion of videos/toons to educate people is essential. It will also require a very strict administration, penalty, license cancellation etc. "GIVE WAY" a concept that exists everywhere else even in the smallest countries is non existent in India. It is always "MY WAY" concept or HONK to create way. Something needs to be done to change this. Eventually this will smoothen traffic a lot and create savings in fuel, increase fuel efficiency. It has to be imbibed in the common man..a difficult task, but not impossible. Local groups should take up for the cause. more
True. This has no place for self promotion. It is a venture by the people , of the people and for the people Manik Akolekar On Saturday, May 24, 2014, BJP Communication Cell < support@localcirclesmail.com> wrote: > more
I have a very specific suggestion which can be taken up at Govt Level. Issue : Indian traffic conditions are very bad compared to most of the other parts of the world. Our basic thinking needs to be changed, much beyond only stopping at traffic signals and lane discipline. Solution : Catch hold of someone who has very strong common man appeal, like 'Munna bhai + Circuit' combo. Make short films with these two characters going on roads and using that to tell people simple things like : no using fast lane on expressways for regular driving ; wait behind the main road (not right in the middle of it) at a crossing where there are no signals and you know you can't cross ; and the like. These films can be circulated through social media as well as televisions, etc Though my main work (business wise) is related to Cold Chain and Cold storages, I am willing to put in time for this work if needed. Of course, even any work on enhancing cold chain in India is most welcome for me as well.
