Imported foods may not need certification
All food experts please give your view on Govt trying to make certification easier for foreign companies as compared to Home grown companies. That too for foods like baby food milk powder etc.

No doubt the standards for human consumption weather imported of home made. The general feeling is that the standards for imported ones from U.S.A. & U.K. are higher than that laid down by India and the Asian countries . more

Imported foods do need certification- though not related to food these events emphasize the need for mandatory certification -asbestos in baby powder, defective knee joints, volks vagon taking customers for a ride through doctored software etc. Policies based on economic theories based on Laissez faire, US capitalism do not work. Human beahviour especially in the commercial field requires third party checks. Such checks should not be abolished under the garb that they lead to corruption, more

As long as corruption exists in India, clarity of food standard will not come into existence, else, there are many government agencies could have framed food law for imports. more
