Improve your posture
- head straight up
- chin up
- shoulders relaxed
- chest out
- pelvis tilted upwards
All of us today have a stressful and demanding work environment that makes it even more important to have the right posture. Sitting for long hours in office in front of a computer in a slouched position can disrupt spine alignment in your body. Also, tilting your head to look into your smartphone induces neck and back pain, eventually leading to a bad standing posture. Here are a few ways to improve your body posture-
- Sitting for hours at a stretch isn't good for your body. It stiffens your muscles and may lead to back pain. So, once in a while, go out in the fresh air and take a walk.
- Yes, you have to sit straight. Make it a conscious effort to sit straight. When in office, choose a chair and desktop according to your height, so that you don't have to bend over. If need be, keep reminders on your workstation to sit straight.
- When standing, stand with your chest out, head and chin up and shoulders back. This will also help you to walk in the right way.
- Sleeping uncomfortably can also lead to a bad posture. If you don't sleep well and enough, the next day you will have a tired body that will want to slouch. Though, you can't really sleep with a particular posture in head, you can still do a couple of things like-
- Use a firm mattress
- Avoid sleeping on your stomach
- Sleeping on your back will keep your shoulders relaxed and straight. If you sleep sideways, then put in a pillow between your knees. This will keep your spine aligned.
- Use a proper pillow that gives comfort to your head, back and neck
- Have a sound sleep. Avoid negative thoughts to pour in just before you sleep.
- A good posture comes with some good flexibility. Do regular back and neck exercises. It will help you sit up straight and also enhance your overall health. Also, you can practice yoga. more
