Railway improvements observed by citizens over last year
1. Information about the ticket/train are continuously sent by sms
2. Cleanliness on the platforms is a tad better than before
3. Cleanliness inside trains had improved
4. IRCTC website has become more user friendly and performs well
5. Escalators have been installed on many stations which makes it easier for the elderly to move around
6. Some people have been getting fined for not having a platform ticket
7. Starting of the toll free numbers to help passengers is a positive move
8. Dustbins have been found installed in many trains
9. Railway sites like http://indiarailinfo.com/ have been enhanced to provide more information on trains/ticket availability/platform information with pics for some
10. E-catering in 2000 trains is a welcome addition
11. General Coaches which had broken upper wooden luggage carriers are replaced with new iron carriers
12. User friendly staircases have been installed in some trains 1st AC compartments
13. Unauthorized vendors are not seen in some trains now. more

I have seen cleanliness has improved at railway stations. Why not railways serve quality food and charge a premium (like different ticket classes sleeper class, 3AC , 2AC and 1AC) ? more

1) Nodriver blows whistleon starting(abt) or just starting to spped up.Please ensure his whistle /or station"s bell boy ringing bell at the train is abt to start. on tra_n movemT train should whistle 3 times (intermitently) 2)all mail /expS /dorentos should displyberth- numbers on top of compT which r empty. 3)railways r reqsted to change res-softwares as follows; age 5 --35 any berts can be alloted. 2)from 35---60 lower & middlecan be alloted. 3) from 60 onwards present system can continue .AT NO TIME A MAN OR A WOMEN SHOULD GET UPPER BERTH/. Lower & middle r acceptable/ 4) pillow& white sheets sizes to be revisted/towards upper sizes/ 5) NEXTJUNCTION TO BE DISPLAYED IN SIDE COPARTMENT/ 6)TTR SHOULD HOLD MORERESPONSIBILITY ;VIZ; PIPS TOILETS ,BOLBS PLUMBINGS ; TO ARRANGE REPAIRS OF THESE ITEMS PROMPTLY 7TROLLES TO CARRY LUGGAGES SHOULD BE AVAAILABLE AT EVERY 3 COACH LENGTHS .COMTERS CAN AVAIL THIS FOR A NOMINAL CHARGE WITH A DEPOSIT TO BE RETD WHEN HE COMES OUT OF STA_N. 8)REPAIRED COACHS TO BE DEPLOYED IH SHORT HALL PASS_r TRAINS. MY SELF FELT 625 (SIX HUNDRED & TWENTY FIVE JERKS IN FACT HEAVY SHOCKS IN TVM -CHENNAI -TVM MAILS .IN FACT I FELL DOWN WITH NECK & FOOT INJURY/ 9) CATERING SHOUD BOOK BREAK FAST. LUNCH, % DINNER WITH AUTORIZED IRCTC PRESONEL/ ONLY SNACKS TO BE ALLOWED FROM VENDERS ALL COACHS TO BE INSPECTED & CERTIFIED FOR TRAVEL (not only bogie but all ammenities provided by ralwYS to be included in his certificats/ thank U k/N CATERING SHOULD 5 3) more
