Improving Berth Allotment - Inputs on Solutions

We continue to regularly several concerns about Berth Allotment system and would like to understand how a robust solution can be developed. Below are some of the inputs given by you last year. Kindly share specific solution inputs keeping in mind the various constraints that exist. We look forward to your inputs!

Improving Berth Allotment in Trains - Citizen Inputs

1. The berth allotment system while booking the tickets should be made more user friendly
2. Berth allotment should be made more transparent and user driven
3. If the age entered while booking is 60+, the system should automatically allot a lower berth
4. While booking tickets there should be a column asking if a person has any special needs and the berth should be allotted accordingly
5. If the system is not able to allot seats to a group together, it should display it as a message before confirming the booking
6. An option of choosing a berth while booking online should be added in general class tickets too
7. The seat map should be shown while booking tickets, like in case of airlines
8. Passengers between 15 and 25 should always be allotted upper berth automatically
9. With the seat availability, the number of different berth available should also be shown
10. A fixed number of lower berths should be reserved in every train for the needy
11. RAC passengers should get the berth if there are any cancellation/non-reporting by the booked passenger. more
