IMPROVING CLEANLINESS CONDITIONS YET TO TAKE OFF :

No doubt , it is a long standing Malady over several decades. Only when big ‘Babus’ or VIP’s travel we have been seeing some semblance of cleanliness just for that period and that localized place . Now all of them opting for air travel , not even that.

Kindly take a look at the 2 attachments both taken in the Double Decker Train to Bangalore from Chennai . Mind you it is a premium train .All A/C Train :

One showing the tea strainer kept in the wash basin ; meant to wash hands , gargle mouth , blow nose etc. WE HAVE TOTAL BELIEF SIRS THE CATERING STAFF WILL WASH IT THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING THE SAME STRAINER FOR YOUR NEXT CUP OF TEA UNLESS IT IS A ONE TIME USER.

The second is the picture of the hot case / heating case / microwave [sorry I am not able to give you the exact name as I had to take the picture stealthily ] . But it speaks for itself . If the food served to us is getting heated there without a lid , the food that gets heated splashes on the metal wall . I am sure the walls were not stained like that when it was installed first. It is exactly the stains from the splash of food getting heated . Will railways allow me to check if it is just stain or splashed food ?

NO WONDER FSSAI AS WELL AS CAG HAD TO SLAM RAILWAYS ON FOOD QUALITY SERVED . CAG SLAMMED A MONTH BACK . FSSAI DID IT 2 MONTHS EARLIER. HONOURABLE MINISTER SIR, CLEANLINESS , FOOD , HYGEINE CARE SHOULDN’T TAKE SUCH A LONG TIME TO RECTIFY . IT SHOULD BE DONE ON WAR FOOTING . LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE CONCERNED OFFICIALS WERE DOING THESE 2 MONTHS . WE DO KNOW IF IT ISN’T POSSIBLE FOR ONE INTERESTED PERSON TO LOOK INTO IT.

AT LEAST YOU HAVE EMPOWERED US TO INFORM YOU. OTHERWISE BEING ON TOP WITH GOOD PLANS FOR US THESE ABERRATIONS WILL GO UN NOTICED .HOPE THIS ALSO COMES TO YOUR NOTICE .

Sir , let not your noble attempts go waste . Many will still prefer to bring their own food after seeing these in the trains and the way the IRCTC treat us and rightly the Chairman Railway Board told us bring your food from home . We are ready after witnessing all this.

ATLEAST STOP THE CAPTIVE SERVING IN SHATABDI’s AND RAJADHANI’s PLEASE. more

I must congratulate Mr Daniel for making public the high handedness and carelessness of the Indian railways and the railways contracted caterers towards most desired and necessitated cleanliness & public health. It is no secret that the railways have utterly failed to bring back the public organisation on to the track because of prevailing corrupt practices at its highest places. Otherwise, the Chairman of the Railways Board would have not suggested the passengers to bring their foods from homes. But blaming the railways alone would not be fair. The issues referred to in the post with related photographs must not be the incidents of the day Mr Daniel snapped the shots but on how many occasions these were pointed out and objected by the travelling passengers who were the beneficiaries of the foods prepared & processed using these tools? On the contrary, majority of the passengers travelling even in AC classes are least bothered for cleanliness. They chew paan & gutkha and spit in the wash basin making the entire basing completely unfit for further use but do least bother to wash it, the wrappers are thrown on the floor, toilets are never flushed after use spreading foul smell and we expect that the railways will take due care of all our misdoings, which is too much and not at all fair. We must take care of ourselves first and then expect from the railways. more
Dear Mr. Biswas, I am sorry to say that you are unable to see the big picture. Unless we have a system which stops breeding of corruption, you can achieve nothing in long run. We must have a fool-proof system so that corruption is prevented and curing is not the answer. Cleanliness is part of the big problem of mis-management brought out by a corrupt system. Not doing work & in-efficiency is also corruption. more
I think the subject matter in the instant case was 'cleanliness in railways', which had nothing to do with all those you are talking about. more
Upto now, we have been under so called Mixed Economy which was just used for siphoning out funds from the public sector enterprises for personal gains. That is why we are talking about privatizing Air India which was private to start with. All these hypes about attaining commanding heights is all for limited few, the masses languishing in abject poverty as bad as even they do not have access to clean drinking water after 70 years of Independence. If you want more info about the system I am talking about please visit my FB page under Community Centre and you will understand how things can change under a new system which is by design corruption-free and can really bring development in the lives of masses. more
It will not be proper to stop food in high speed trains like - Rajadhani and Shatabdi Express. Many people travel for hours together in odd times, without having their breakfast in early hours and reach the destination in odd hours. The discontinuation of pantry will encourage outside vendors to provide catering to the hungry passengers through e_booking at an abnormal high price from reputed caterers, in certain important stations. Instead, let the Ministry improve the standard of food supplied to the passengers in such trains. more
