Improving Delhi Metro
(a) Mark with yellow & red arrows the 'in' & 'out' queue on all platforms. This has been done only at some stations & even these are not understood by most users. There must be display boards at stations & in the coaches to educate the users. Regular announcements should be made to educate people.
(b) The DMRC staff meant to oversee disciplined boarding & deboarding is poorly untrained & mostly ineffective. They are generally mere spectators.
(c) Inspite of a pletrhora of mechanized cleaning equipment available, over-ground stations are getting filthy by the day. It seems that this state has been accepted as 'fait accompli' by the DMRC hierarchy.
(d) Special measures need to be taken to prevent bird droppings at stations. The cause of such problem areas should be identified & rectified.
(e) DMRC must take special care to ensure proper maintenance & upkeep of external areas of all stations, especially over-ground ones. Metro premises must not be accessible to beggars.
(f) In coordination with Delhi Police, DMRC must ensure proper regulation of rickshas & auto-rickshas to prevent disruption of road traffic outside Metro stations.
(g) The cleanliness of coaches leaves room for improvement. The present state is nowhere near world standards.
(h) Several automatic gates have become partially unserviceable over time & need to be replaced.
(i) The electronic display boards for information such as time / destination of next train & No. of coaches, etc often display incorrect information. This is very frequent at Nehru Place station. Needs attention. more
