There should be surprise and regular check of private hospitals regarding issue of medicines and bed to poors and rate of medicines/tests. In many instances, private hospitals prescribe tests and medicines which are not necessary to earn more money/commission which can be controlled by surprise/regular check by different staff at different area. more

The deficiency in the Private Hospitals and Semi Govt Hospitals have been rightly compiled. But some of them are missing I feel these points to be also be added. 1. These Private Hospitals charge more for doctor consultation from the indoor patients than out door patients. In my opinion, it should be reverse as the indoor patients have the right to consult the attached doctor only. Next, it is also covered under the philosophy of bulk payment. So the services should be cheaper. 2. The Doctor should prescribe only such tests which are essential for the treatment of the patient. In case of my 90 year old mother, the doctor prescribed for a costly test at Fortis Hospital, V.K. whose result would be available after 3 months. My mother died within a month. Therefore there should be a strict audit of the practices. 3. Some of the Doctors in Private Hospitals like Dr. A. Mishra Diebetologist and Dr Alok Sarin are charging Rs 2000.00 as consultation fee. Such Doctors should be forced to see patients at CGHS rate for 2 hours every day. 3. Hospitals like Max, Apollo, Sir Gangaram had entered into a contract to treat Coal India Ltd. working and retired executives at CGHS rate. But now these Hospitals are refusing to accept CGHS rates and charging exorbitantly. more
