1. The air conditioning units should be regularly serviced to prevent the chances of short circuit
2. A fire helpline could be started to report cases of fire in trains immediately
3. This helpline number should be printed on every ticket
4. Regular mock fire drills should be conducted at the stations
5. Better emergency exits should be designed
6. PVC and Halogen based components should not be used in trains
7. General public should also be trained on using fire safety equipment
8. The electrical and mechanical staff should do proper maintenance of the coaches while they are in the yard
9. All safety related positions in railways should be filled ASAP to maintain better performance and keep them fire free
10. Automated water dropping system should be used in coaches & should be attached with smoke censor
11. A study of international standards (Europe / US)should be done, which would help in implementing those techniques which would help to reduce the fire accidents
12. A heavy fine should be charged if a person is found smoking in the train
13. Train coaches could be painted with fire retardant paint
14. Each coach should have a fire extinguisher
15. Mobile and laptop charging points can be a potential problem source. railways need to install circuit breakers in case of sudden surge in load
16. Railways should carry out periodic inspection and insulation checking of circuits to detect possible "hazards" and "risks" due to deterioration and malpractice
17. Display Do’s AND Don ‘t in local language at platforms and inside trains
18. Once a coach is declared unfit, it should not be used with any train at any cost
19. Fire alarms could also be installed in trains to alert the passengers
20. Special grade fire resistant cables should be used for the wiring of AC, Fan, lights etc. more
