Improving Railway Reservations - Inputs Needed on Solutions

Key issues with Railway Reservation Systems (as outlined by citizens)

1. Tatkal system is a mess
2. Tough to even login during the early hours to book tatkal tickets
3. Number of seats reserved for tatkal are really less
4. Tatkal tickets are sold out within minutes of opening up
5. IRCTC website is slow and outdated
6. No graphical visibility of Free seats/Births on IRCTC website to pick and choose as per your convenience
7. Increasing booking charges by IRCTC
8. Many times money gets deducted but the ticket is not booked on the IRCTC website
9. The refund process on the IRCTC website is very lengthy
10. Long queues at the ticket counters
11. Inefficient staff at the ticket counters
12. Less ticket windows compared to the large population
13. Agents have a quota system which helps them block large number of seats
14. The VIP/railway quota system is misused
15. Tickets issued as current booking don’t have seat numbers assigned to them
16. Senior Citizens and handicapped persons are allotted Upper Berth by computer system
17. Bookings not possible through a mobile
18. No provision of buying platform tickets online more

There should be no quota system for the agents as they are the intermediaries between the railway department and the public. Regervation counters should be opened at different places in the city to avoide long que at the reservation counters. more  
for complaints SMS may not be efficient as Railway Authorities may not take immediate action , some Responsible person should be available in each train and maintain cleanliness Pantry employees should be clean with uniform more  
Solution: 1. Complaint is not possible anywhere for System issues or tweakings with system. Online complaints with tracking ids & immediate action group should be set up. FACT: Tatkal booking is opened before 1 day from start date of train by system. I observed for 3 trains on 1st october, with start station Delhi, starting on 2nd october, but tatkal tickets shows regret. It was opened 2 day before by system. 2. Its better to run special trains (not only in festive season, but also for every calendar holidays which increase to 3 or more consecutive days which should be identified at the start of calendar year). FACT: A new quota of Premium tatkal is started without any formal intimation. On selecting the details, it shows that fare may vary at the time of booking. With already such a huge price for tatkal tickets, why railways is trying to deploy a bidding system? 3. Waiting should not be allowed in tatkal as All waitlisted tickets are cancelled. FACT: All cancelled tatkal tickets have no refund. Still one can see tatkal tickets booked upto 100s of waiting. 4. Website security / coding should be updated with some new implementations 1-2 days before every 3 or more consecutive holidays or festive seasons. FACT: Website gets hacked up during tatkal hours. Seats show available, payment gets deducted & gets transferred to irctc website, but ticket doesnt gets booked. more

sir, their is a problem in identifying train services to be increased to several areas where the trains always booked throughout the year so the service at present for example we generally travel too and fro by train no 6231 and 6232 which travels daily but it may give good profit if additional trip too and fro thank u more
