Inaccurate Information in Railway Stations

We do not know the intention why the Railways give wrong information about arrival timings on computer screens installed in Railway stations. On the screen the train was reported as having already left while in fact it had not arrived at the station. Similarly the numbers of both Karwar Express and Kannoor Express form the same train up to a certain point. But the numbers of both trains are not mentioned by the announcer while stating the time of arrival. Only one number is mentioned. This will create confusion in the minds of passengers. Let us hope that Railways should update their technology and try to give precise details and should not cause inconvenience and anxiety to travellers. more

On 19th Jan I came hurriedly to Rjy railway station to catch 17239 Simhadri express to go to Visakhapatnam. It was 13.40 The display board does not show the train. On inquiry at inquiry counter it was learnt that the train left. I was disappointed, went outside and came back to station after about 20 minutes. Decided to go by next train at around 1600hrs and wait at the platform till then. when I entered the platform to my surprise the train no 17239 was on plat form no 3 for the last more than 30 minutes. Without any announcement the train left around 1410hrs. more
these are definitely lapses needs correction more
I feel that the systems are evolving and it may take a little time before it stabilizes. Let us keep a little patience. In the mean while, request railway authorities/ministry to strengthen the information systems. They need to understand that wrong information is worse than no information. more
Journey: Trichur - Thane 3 Jan 2017 - 01068 - when we reached station at 1 pm (scheduled time 1405) and enquired at enquiry section it was informed that the train will be late by 4 to 5 hours. We went back and I was enquiring with 139 and it was informed that the train will reach Trichur by 7.10 pm. We reached station by 6.45 pm and we were searching at display board (forthcoming train details) and 01068 was displayed under Chennai route mentioning arrival time 7.10 pm. We were searching the details under Mumbai route and enquired to staff, he was not ready to change information and he informed us that the train will arrive at 7.10 pm. We were waiting for the train till 7.30 and I have tried 139 for the 6th time it was informed that the train has reached Trichur at 6.53pm and left at 6.56 pm. It was a great shock for us. The enquiry system made us shock even I have tried at 6.30 also I was getting message that train will reach Trichur by 7.10 pm. Neither I could travel in that train nor cancel the ticket. I have complaint this at Trichur but not received any reply yet. more
a similar instance has happened with me also. on a particular day, train no. 12359 did not arrive at pnbe whereas, on the net at" national train information system", is was showing as arrived on time. it caused panic in the family as we could not locate the person travelling in the train. finally, we get relief, when the traveler , herself called us to inform that the train is late and stationed at patna city.
