Income tax and TDS

If the total taxable pension of a person is Rs.5,00,000/-and there is no F.D. Interest and no income from any business or profession, and when Section 208 of Income Tax Act., gives relief from payment of advance tax to a Senior Citizen, not having any income from business or profession, then how to direct the Deductor / Bank authorities not to deduct TDS from income. In such cases, when you are barred from filling Form 15 H, what is the purpose of giving exemption under Sec.208 of I T Act. more

If PAN card is not submitted or pan provided by deductee is invalid the TDS is 20%. Please check with the post office if this was the reason. For help contact us on support@taxache.com more  
five lakh itself a taxable amount. even 3 lakhs exempted , 1.50 lakhs can be saved thru ppf and other exempted under 80 c, 80 l etc. u must be a taxpayer earlier. and likewise u have to file it return this is as per my little knowledge .... sorry if I hurt u. more  
It is unfortunate that the government schemes mean for senior citizens are not advertised enough, and majority of the senior citizens, cannot take their advantage, as most of the people are not even aware of these schemes. So, another major task for the government is to appropriately advertise them. more  
You should write to the tax authorities attaching photocopy of of your Post Office Passbook which shows tax deduction. You should have done this while filing your tax return to claim deduction. Post Office cannot help you here. more  
Lodge a grievance with pgportal.gov.in,and select department - POST, you will certainely get a positive remidial action. more
