Inconveniences due to introduction of LHB coaches

Indian Railway has inducted LHB coach in many important long distance trains. It is good that we have new coaches, but rather than proving useful there are many issues.

Bane :-
1) Trains with LHS coach contain less second class coach which are often occupied by defense personals, Postal dept, leaving only a portion of it to the common passengers to travel in more packed than earlier.
2) Trains with LHB coaches don't have Ladies, Disabled compartment. Unreserved women & PwDs can't travel in the packed general compartments.
3) With less second classes, unreserved passengers are forced to sleeper coaches thereby turning reserved class into unreserved. Even toilets of sleeper classes are occupied by unreserved passengers.
4) Generators attached to these trains are unfriendly to the environment. They make air & sound pollution.

Boons:-
1) Lighter, speeder, safety.
2) Facilities, bigger toilet.
But people are not mature enough to use these facilities...

Railway need to induct more unreserved coaches with woman & disabled in trains, design technology to generate energy from running wheel rather than depending on polluting generator. more

Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches are the new generation passenger type coaches in the Indian Railways that has been developed by Linke-Hofmann-Busch in Germany. The others being ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coaches and Hybrid coaches. The points raised are valid and needs to be looked upon. more
It is stated that technology should be developed to generate power from rotating wheels. How the wheels will rotate without power? Diese engines are being taken out of service and replaced by electric engines. But power cannot be generated without any source of energy like cool, petrol, diesel, wind , or solar energy. Wheels cannot rotate by themselves and generate power. more
this is the case when train require to stop. Here Electrical break (generating electricity of rotating wheel) is used in place of mechanical break. more
Why the railways do not conduct evaluation field trials with regular passengers and get a feed back before finalizing mas production of the coaches? more
Status as briefed by Mr. Dutta is not because of the introduction of LHB coaches, but due to the collective attitude of the passengers and railways. As passengers, we don't use it properly as it should be, but blame the railways. It is general tendency of the citizens to utilise public property like this as shown in the photo/picture here. So let's ask ourselves first before making allegations on railways. Similarly railways also do not maintain the coaches the way they should be. It should allow only authorise passengers to board the train during the entire journey and ensure that even unreserved compartments are not over crowded. Secondy, railways must run continuous awareness campaign to enlighten the passenger about the usage of compartments and other properties. If these issues are addressed, we can have better India. more
If everything is done keeping passengers in mind, I think the situation can be changed. It is to be noted that the railway employees are sitting in air conditioned rooms but the valid passengers travel in heavily crowded general compartment without a seat or space for even standing properly in a very hot climate. Reality is, servants behave like masters and that is the main issue in our independent democratic country. Ajay parikh 22 /08 /2019 more
