Increase in vehicle registration charges

The Govt is increasing vehicle registration fee. passenger vehicles are now proposed to attract a registration fee of ₹20,000, instead of the current ₹1,000. The registration fee for a new truck or a bus has been proposed at ₹20,000, as opposed to the current ₹1,500. The registration fee for two-wheelers is proposed to be ₹1,000, instead of the current ₹50. Similarly, the registration fee for a new car is proposed to be ₹5,000, up from the present ₹600.

Why would you do that when the auto sales (july data attached) are slumping across India. this is suicide Nitin Gadkari sahab. more

All good things in life come with a cost to it.These days motor vechickes are coming in all shapes and sizes and fir all pockets. and with increased life styles and earning power demand for cars with high end features are on the rise. These days the rich and above middle class do not think twice before presenting a high end BMW or Merc to their 18 yr old children as birthday gift. Also most people have migrated from Two whelkers to four wheelers and fir All these You require Roads and infrastructure as these fancy cars cannot be run on village roads.Mr.Gadkari has ambitions of building world class roads all over India and has indeed shown results by the pace of increased no of good motrabke roads across the country. So dear countrymen when you are willing to shell out for the fancy features in your car WHY grudge paying Road tax .Incidentally I am Not speaking for any political outfit more
While the cost of everything is on increase including income opf an individual many folds, how can the related departments can run with their meagre income because of decades old fees and charges. When the illustrated charges were fixed the prices of different vehicles were just 30% to 35% of their present prices. Despite such steep hike in prices, the vehicular traffic on our roads all over the country has increased many folds making our roads incapable of coping up with the pressure. Under such a scenerio, I personally opine that there is a need for hike in such charges, if at all we want better & broader roads. more
Govt Funds, Finances, Income on one side getting looted while the Expenditure increasingly recurring every year even on Pension and economic benefits. On the other side, purchasers of Properties, Luxuries evading Taxes abnormally while the Charges and Fee are ever on very low and meager side.
Citizens to realize all comprehensively and States must ERADICATE ECONOMIC INEQUALITIES AS DIRECTED IN ARTICLE 38 AND 39 . more
Very minute Registration charges are now set right in fact. It covers both Business Field as well as individual Luxurious that hampered Public /Govt Transport on Roads while seriously increasing Air Pollution . In fact, the Charges for the Life permitted is really a minute please. more
Current tariff is much less compared to the cost of the vehicles. Nonetheless, considering the recession in Indian economy, increase in tariff must be reasonable and viable so that both the consumer and the industry are not impacted very much. As citizens, we need to understand that as we expect number of good schemes to be implemented by the government for our benefits, we need to pay legitimate taxes in number of ways. However, this must be contributed by every citizen without exemptions. Classic example is so called agriculturists who earn in crores but not contributing to the exchequer even a small percentage which is unjust. So let politicians not say that hardly less than 5% of the population is filing IT returns and paying taxes whereas more than 70% of the population is said to be in the exempted category. more
Even if it is acceptable it is ill timed when the Auto industry is in a severe recession. Govt is not only unaware of real economic conditions in the country, but also is in denial mode ,not accepting that economy is in a downward nose dive.. more
