Dear Ma'm Anindita Sengupta (Freelance writer and online English and biology teacher.), if you do not know anything about GST, it is best to refrain from making half-baked statements. A 5% GST means, 2.5% CGST and 2.5% SGST. There is no further tax. Period. more
GST doubles the cost of a item. If and item costs Rs.10 it becomes Rs.20 if GST is charges. What does the government want? A half fed or a starving nation? more
Please let us know your formula of calculation of GST on an item of Rs.10 ! more
I don't think so the increase will be hardly 50paisa as GST includes both State and Central GST. We can know the actual price only after they are announced. more
By what logic may I know please? If an item now costs Rs. 10 and 5% GST is applied to it, how does it become Rs. 20?
In fact, if Input Tax Credit of all business expenses is accounted for, the actual increase in final selling price may not even be Rs. 0.50 as the example above may suggest. more
Mismanagement & wrong doing never bring a good impact. That we are witnessing in this regime. Our leader is really bothering for common people rather serious on welfare of selected corporates. So no option, dictum stands strong. more
Do you know if a family is in serious debt that family commit suicide. If Govt. is in serious debt it goes for more debt and as well drain the money from the public by more taxes. No one is serious about freebees and refuse to accept them. Rather we demand more concessions for low income groups and heavy taxes foe high earners as if high earners commit a sin by earning more and low income people could not earn as they do not have access to more earnings. After all whether poor or rich all are citizens of a country and tax percentage slab should be only one for all earners. We forget that vote bank politics keep the poor as poor and make business community more and more rich and allow them to chet the Govt. on taxes and as well as loans. more
Items like milk, curd, rice, wheat, aata, Dal, consumer lights refill etc which are basic (in today's context) should be exempt from taxes. Hotel room under ₹1000 are very very basic. There are more. It would be good to know the profile of the people who have given these wonderful inputs to the govt. more
