India wants cleaner trains and stations from Railway Ministry
1. Strict implementation of penalty for litter and smoking in trains and railway stations. This can be a way of earning for the railways.
2. Smoke detectors in coaches and more importantly toilets. This helps raise alarm in case of smoke from fire or people who are habitual of smoking inside toilets, causing severe inconvenience to co-passengers.
3. Cameras in coaches to improve security preparedness.
4. Janitor rooms and their use occasionally to prevent insects and rodents inside coaches.
5. Long distance trains to have cleaning agencies who manage cleanliness of coaches and toilets.
6. Cleaning agencies to be made accountable for the cleanliness of the coaches and complaint books to be managed.
7. Responsible managers in Railways who manage complaint books - target to have continous improvement among railway employees. more
