Indian Railway Revised Fare

Indian Railways have find new ways to increase the fare.
Recently I booked a ticket in Train no 12925 / PASCHIM EXPRESS and noted these changes which will make my journey more costlier.
Till now for Child above 5 years till age of 11years , half fare will be charged and berth will be allotted , but now for child above 5 years till age of 11years , half fare will be charged and berth will be Not be alloted, in case we need a birth for the child we need to pay the full fare.
Now in Indian Railways..... child will also be treated as Adult more

Railways always showing its revenue in negative, but if you are a regular traveler in railways, right from booking a ticket you will find difficulties one step to another. 1st getting a ticket itself is a big project, if you get it any how then to board a train is another one. 2ndly inside by taking bribe or whatever we call it TC is allowing 'n' number of passengers in a bogie, even in AC coaches, these passengers become real ticket owners over the originals and try to accommodate on your space and during night time they occupy space between the two births and making discomfort originals, especially lady passengers, who paid money to IR prior to 4 months journey date. Then on what basis, railways is claiming loss in earnings. I heard before being a customer of IR that people speaks lies, but now views changed that biggest government concern in public dealings speaks maximum lies and always making their own customers, tax payers fools in every respect. In my views, through tatkal scheme railways earns about 3/4th of total revenue earned, comparing by selling normal tickets, logic behind my claim is quota allotted for tatkal scheme. By this way IR is in major profit than projected loss every year. Through this platform, I request Hon. Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu ji and Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to intervene personally into this matter to sort out this loss agenda by IR. Also, please allow passengers to launch direct complaints against corrupt railways officials to them, not to IR, due to whom every body suffers in "Rail SAFAR". Also I request Ministry to refine recruitment process of IR so that we should get honest officials. If a survey is conducted about earnings and property of IR officials, especially on-board, and concerned with ticket reservations etc. Only technical staff may be spared in this process, then only truth about story of IR's loss year by year comes on surface. more
check out the cancellation charges.... that is another revenue stream more
Railways have been making money fastly with the introduction of premium tatkal bookings. When there is a wait list in Tatkal booking but in premium tatkal there are more than 100 seats for the same itinerary. This shows how railways is cheating commuters both Middle class or upper class more
The idea of introducing 'tatkal' scheme was to facilitate a small percentage of genuine and desparate passengers needing to take a train urgently at a very short notice, where normal reservation may have been closed. However, in view of the excellant prospect of higher / premium fares and non-cancellation benefits, railways have forgotten their social responsibility and have given higher percentage of reservation (seats / berths) to the 'tatkal' travellers. It is generally experienced and found that, because of the availability of this so-called facility, many affluent, frequent and lazy travellers have done away with booking reservation in the normal mode and go in for 'tatkal' mode. This is more so among the week-end visitors of office-goers to their native places and back to places of working. Travel by such casual and careless passengers can not be construed as emergency travel and such bookings should not be admissible under ‘tatkal’ booking. If the objective of the Railways is genuine and true, the Railways should constitue a team that should include representation from Consumer Forum involving regular railway travellers. It is only then that the not-so-rich passengers can hope to book reservations till the last available moment before travel and avoid irrepairable money loss under the Tatkal scheme. more
I agree with the view that reservation period should be reverted back to 60 days and tatkal quota should be reduced sizeably more
