India's Goal of Reaching Net-Zero Emissions by 2070
(i) technology transfer and
(ii) low cost international finance.
India's climate actions have so far been largely financed from domestic resources.
As the strength of reaching net-zero emissions picks up momentum, initiatives, such as those for methane monitoring becomes important.
Use of UAVs(unmanned aerial vehicles), for example forms part of a comprehensive environment and climate change target program and also as development of a multilevel leak detection system.
Using UAVs for methane leak monitoring enables more accurate and faster measurements as well as lower costs compared to other monitoring methods.
Using domestically sourced UAVs allow inspection of facilities not only for natural gas fields but also long section of gas pipelines. UAVs can be equipped to operate in remote areas and deliver real-time video feed within a certain range when designed with hypersensitive gas analyzers.
The UAVs are an important element of the multilevel methane leak detection system, which includes satellite imaging and ground monitoring during site tours.
Shipments of US LNG declined as the Freeport LNG facility continued shut down, limiting the export capacity of US LNG. While the US government tries to fulfill promise to European leaders that help serve supplies of the gas at cryogenic temperature, Russian president seized full control of Sakhaline-2 in Russia's far east, one of the world's largest LNG projects.
As COVID-19 restrictions around much of the world are relaxing and economic activity recovers, enabling consumption to expand sharply and increasing the demands on available supplies, fragilities in the system are increasingly getting highlighted. more
