India’s world cup loss

One of the gravest mistakes was keeping the final game in Ahmedabad, a stadium that the Indian team had little familiarity with as compared to Wankhede or Eden Gardens.

Why was this done? Was BCCI catering to the political masters?

The pitch wad bad and so was the outfield.

Such shows happen when we mix cricket and politics. Can we share our thoughts and discuss how politics should be kept away from sports? more

Well...it was all fixed and expectation was of Indo-Pak clash. But Pakistan did not live up to the reputation with politics in their own dressing room. That explains the schedule already drawn up that PM should hand over the Cup to the winning Indian Team. Aussies are known to cause upsets and they did just that. Normally BCCI Chairman is supposed to do the honors but since Jay Shah is a very weak candidate holding that post just because of politics, PM took it on himself to do the honor but brought more dishonor by walking away after giving away the trophy not even having courtesy of standing for photo session. Then theories and stories of Aussies insulting former BCCI Chairman Sharad Pawar by Ricky Ponting men was floated around which didn't cut much ice with cricket fans. This was followed by a morphed picture of Mitchell Marsh with his feet on the Trophy with comment disgusting behaviour of aussies...but the real pic was soon doing the rounds. So one is left wondering that a game of cricket - a gentleman's game as it was called has been reduced to what? more
Sorry, Shailesh-there can be no GRAVEST mistake. In any activity, mistakes are likely. WHY can we not gracefully accept the defeat -like as was said in the 'olden days' good sportsman spirit? Why can we not accept that the other side played better? As long as there were victories, there were no mistakes. The moment there is a loss, the 'fans' and the analysts start counting mistakes. virendra more
Discipline the differentiator! Our driving indiscipline. Winning toss helped Australia. Dew help batting in evening. India better compared to Australia. Australian fielding better. Travis Head taking the catch. Glen Maxwell a pinch hitter. But no politics in Australia's game. Kohli excellent cricketer. But together with the rest? Shami joined tournament late replacing Hardik Pandya. Pressure to win. Many factors. more
Separating two may not be that easy, since masters are playing their own cards and milking cream in the due course. Rest is all history. more
You are right Mr. Sudarshan Venkata Ramanan.. A game is a game. A player is a player. A field is a field. A true player can play and show/exhibit his performance irrespective of place, field. In my view/opinion our team determined to retaliate for their loss to NZ in last world cup. The same spirit was lost in Ahmedabad. I trust that our team their coach, BCCI must have realised by now. There is no point in further deliberations. Good day. more
