Sir, it is good if industries at large connect with BIS for updating the standards of their own products as well as their input raw material n making it more meaningful , stringent. But unless and until they demand their input raw material products with BIS standards it is not going to work. It must be made obligatory for the industrial products manufacturers as well as domestic appliances, automobiles like euro, BIS 1,2,3,4,5, grades, everyone must be obliged to obtain BIS certification, it will be a futile exercise. Moreover obtaining such certification is a cost so small manufacturers or industries may not like to pay the fees, or obliged to seek certification. It should also done most objectively, keeping in mind the customers n not to be framed benefiting or securing benefits of manufacturers like FSSAI. E.G. many products like good items are manufactured but they are allowed to print packing date. How packing date can be considered as manufacturing date? So the very spirit of standardisation should get killed. If all inputs are as per standards, the end product is bound to be perfect.N industries will also benefited by not having or minimum rejection of their goods. more

LED lights are very good for the long life and low electricity consumption but because of power factor restrictions industry has to use imported components as these are not manufactured in India. Therefore my suggestion is that we should allow positive power factor as that can avoid imported components and can compensate the overall power factor in the grid towards unity. more
