Ineffective Food Handling by Railways

The railways staff in premium trains like rajdhani and shatabdi is zero on knowledge when it comes to food safety.

these people have no idea of how to store food, how to maintain hygiene and arent given any training by railways.

examples include to be served food packets almost touching bathroom door or packaged curd kept at room temperature for 7 hours and then served with meal.

i am raising issue on local circles as fssai is also having circle. railways must develop safe food handing practice with fssai and in these circles and then get fssai to train railway caterers. more

Generally the Pantry car has two toilets on either side. the food articles/groceries are stored in the small cabin adjacent to toilet. On many occasions the Plastic crates containing food pockets, snacks in plastic pocket, biscuits pockets etc are kept just in front of the Toilet door and toilet water are seen many times flowing outside. This is quite unhygienic and will cause infection through infected food stuffs. The Railway department must make sudden inspections and should charge penalties wherever the Pantry is maintained un=hygienically. more
Food problems in railways are common. No one is keeping hygiene. Food & Drug authorities are also equally responsible for that. Actually railway authorities and F & D authority should come on common platform to resolve the issue. Our FDA is sleeping for so many years. In every Hotel there is no check. Provisions of law are not deterrent. It is basically green field for corruption. more
It is true but the reason may be to some extent that it is not the basic duties of railways , all services are in contract . more
It is true Mr. Shukla. The aim of the staff seem to be taking the hat around for collection . So they may be couteous , . Even FSSAI has pulled up the IRCTC FOR POOR QUALITY OF HYGIENE AND SERVICE . more
Yes, it is a fact. May be with limited space, they are staging where ever they like. Hygenic condition is not taken care. more
