Input requested from Ministry of Railways
I would like to come up with an article on cancellation fee charged from wait listed passengers. Will the Ministry of Railways provide me the following information without adapting to RTI route.
1. How many passengers were remained wait listed till departure of the trains during 2016-17
2. How much total value of the fare collected from these wait-listed passengers during 2016-17.
3. How much total money was refunded to these wait-listed passengers during 2016-17.
4. How much amount has been earned by Railways under "Clerkage charges" from these wait-listed passengers during 2016-17
5. How much amount has been charged from the passengers during 2016-17 as insurance premium
6. Value of the claims made during 2016-17
I sincerely hope Railways if appreciate transparency in its operation would share the information else kindly provide the details of the CPIO who could provide information under RTI Act 2005.

RAC passengers travelling in AC compartments and elsewhere are treated badly. They pay the same fare as a reserved confirmed passenger but has to travel sitting and they are not given bed rolls. They are extra passengers over an above the seating capacity of the coach and hence railways should refend 50% of their ticket charge if they are not allotted a berth. more

IT IS MY SUGGESTION TO INTRODUCE ONE NEW CLASS IN INDIAN RAILWAYS i. e. ECONOMY CLASS (COACH NO E1,E2 ETC) WITH EVERY FACILITY OF AC 3 TIRE CLASS BUT WITHOUT AIR CONDITION FACILITY WITH A FARE LOWER THAN AC 3 BUT HIGHER THAN SLEEPER CLASS FARE. INTRODUCTION OF AC CHAIR CAR COACH WITH THE TRAINS THAT RUN OVERNIGHT & NOT MORE THAN TEN HOURS MAY BE CONSIDERED. IT WILL BE HELPFUL FOR CARRYING MORE PASSENGERS. more
