Inputs needed on Hygiene, Sanitation and Civic Issues
It is very important for the implementation of all these three issues that they be started at the primary school level for our children who are growing up, ensuring that what is preached at school is followed at the very school itself. The positive outcomes of the issues should be inculcated and imbibed in the children ensuring that it is followed in their coming life. In the case of grown ups, regular interaction camps should be held at suitable levels, educating the need of hygiene for resultant benefits in terms of health and environment. Again, awarding local areas within small towns, districts will give incentives to strive for betterment.
The detrimental effects of 'spitting' should be highlighted in various print and satellite medias on a continuos basis. At the same time very adequate provisions in terms of spittoons must be made. Spitting in public places MUST be classified as a serious offence and made punishable. Youth who are under MNREGA can be appointed as inspectors for this purpose and steps like getting the offending person to himself clean the affected public place will prevent recurrence of this nuisance as well as send a strong message to others. more
