Dear All, Solution to water logging need to be worked out case to case. few may be the causes of water logging. 1. Roads do not have desired camber. 2. Quality of surfacing is poor leeading to purculation of water to the sole of the road. 3.Soling is poor leading to dipression in the road. 4. vehicles heavier than designed load are allowed to use the roads. 5. drain size & gradiants are not proper. 6.Road cleaning is done manually & sweepers dump the collected clutter into drains. 7. drain cleaning is not done properly. It is being done by incompetent agencies. In my views we need to critically study the specific areas & apply needed one time needed solution. We need to proceed as follow. 1. select the are where improvement is required. 2. mark the spots having water logging. 3. work out the root cause for each area. 4. prepare estimate. 5. arrange funds. 6. Choose the right agency with proven competency to carry out the improvement job. 7. Involve local persons to supervise the job & report. 8. Prepare norms for maintenanace. 9. train contractores/ agencies to carry out maintenanace jobs as per laid norms. 10. arrange specific equipments/ tools to carry out maint. jobs. 11. review the procedure & update maint standards to have a consitant standard. 12. Permission of any construction, private and public, should necessarily support the existing drainage plan. 3. There should be the provision of penalty if any construction of person obstructs the drainage system. 4. If, people are throwing waste material in the drainage channel, it means there is lack of places to throw garbage. It requires proper garbage plan of the town. 5.
