Inputs on Corruption and Transparency Issues in India.

Root Cause:
Corruption is almost impossible to stop but certainly can be made difficult. Areas where the system becomes complicated or where there is high priority ,corruption breeds there. Areas where there is a very high degree of corruption are:
1. Motor vehicle department.
2. Registration of immovable property.
3. Registration of marriage/birth & death.
4. Judiciary.
5. Licensing authorities.
6. Police.
The root cause & analysis :
1. urgency of getting the work done, time is money!
2. fear of the important work getting stalled due to bureaucratic red tapism.
3. involvement of brokers.
4. years of corrupt practice has become a habit.
5. political protection of corrupt officers.(all get a cut.)
6. inefficient vigilance department.
7. present Judges were practicing advocates earlier.
Their juniors act as brokers.
8. fear to make a complaint against corrupt officers/
politicians / judges.
9. no protection to honest citizens.
10. delay in justice in cases against corruption.
Solution:
1. All government work should be online.
2. Strict action against corrupt officers.
3. Strengthen vigilance mechanism.
4. Remove immunity for judicial officers. They should also come under public scrutiny.
5. Have an Ombundsman in every department for public complaints and resolving their grievances.
6. Make bureaucracy free from political interference.
