self immersive process is done in Vijayawada, while casting itself pipes were introduced into the idol and after procession, it was melted down to clay with pumping water, but our heart feel hurted watching our god melting down. but if we make our mind, it is better than usual process throwing him into water with cranes and bad man handling. more

I agree with Sri. Brijratan Mundra. Only idols made of clay only be allowed for the any religious festival and immersion of these idols streamlined, restricted and ensured by the local authorities that rivers and other drinking water bodies not polluted. Our religious leaders should be aware of  and enlightened that  cleanliness (both our inner self  and environment) is the foremost duty of,  in fact, any religion.      more  

Pune has set an example this year. Five most respected Ganesh called "Manache Ganpati" locally have decided not to immerse idols in river but in immersion tanks prepared by corporation. This has been prevalent for many years but for the first time by above five mandals and they are the trend setters. Few additional suggestions. People should be encouraged to immerse idols in their homes only and then use the mud/water for plants/trees nearby. I have been buying idols made from clay only from a fully trustworthy source and immersing in my home. Secondly, idols made from any material other than clay should be banned. Maybe bit costly but people should understand. There should also be some restriction on size. Help of religious leaders should be sought to mould public opinion. more
