Dear Community Members, I would like to seek information from the passengers travelling by train with ticket booked from their PRS counters in a hard copy. Whether the Railways is charging any amount towards insurance premium towards their travel including for luggage safety. It is known that for online ticket booking, no premium is charged but I am not aware if any premium charged for PRS counter reservation. Regards more
All passengers are supposed to be covered under insurance by the passengers transport vehicle which includes trains also. Charging insurance premium from passengers is an unfair trade practices. more
In my opinion when Railways issuing booking form for tickets at the counter it should also give insurance policy form to passenger and it should be submitted along with ticket booking form. It will help nearly all passengers. Nobody would refuse to pay Re.1 or 2 to get extra cover. more
Earlier Railways were charging 92 paise for travel insurance from passengers who book tickets online and this facility was available to passengers booking online tickets. Latter the insurance charge was abolished but insurance cover is still available to passengers who book tickets online. Just two or three days ago I come across news that Railways going to charge Re.1 including GST for travel insurance from passengers booking tickets online. At present there is no news/information about same insurance cover for passenger booking their tickets at the counter. more
