Internal Overhaul of Railways

In the recent report CAG said Railways lost Rs 29,000 crore due to leaks in dual freight system. It found that
that iron ore carried at concessional domestic rates but not consumed for domestic purposes and diverted for third party trading or exports resulted in huge losses to the exchequer.

This cannot happen without collusion. What is Rail Minister doing to break such nexus' between Rail Officials and Businessmen.

Main reason for losses is not freight but if visualised properly is inefficiency the goods trains are given least importance they are generally delayed. The empty rakes keeps on standing at many stations and are not sent back. This causes non availability of coaches at right place for utilisation. The utility of such coaches is hardly 40%. If efficiency is increased railways can gain a lot without increasing freight charges. more
You can install wireless video cameras in every corner on the compartment for a few thousand rupees and let it be known that you being watched all the time like in all the trains in Europe and Japan the crime will drop 90% the entire railway system can be under constant surveillance 25 hours a day for few million rupees even the railway employees will become honest and more efficient Darshan chhabra more
