Is any of our colleague a SMOKER. And is he willing to give up smoking? Will and determination are the two most important things for this. If so, here are some tips to make things easy for such people.

Are you smoking up your life?

Smoking is one of the causes of preventable death. Next to cancer, especially of the lung and mouth, it may lead to atherosclerosis, COPD, bronchitis, osteoporosis, infertility, persistent cough and stained teeth. If you are a smoker willing to quit here are some tips you can start with.

1. Be determined. You can't quit an unpleasant habit if you have a wavering mind. The right mind set is essential for any activity.

2. Start thinking seriously about yourself! And to start thinking you do not have to be a "fool" with a "roll of tobacco" in your hand. Think how and why you started smoking in the first place.

Identify the triggers that forces you for an extra cigar.

3. How many cigars do you smoke in a day? Start reducing the number.

4. Do you have a quit plan as yet? Decide on the date and work up to it in your mind. Start envisioning yourself as a new person, happier and healthier, after quitting.

5. Smoking is a breathing exercise but a harmful one. So instead of smoking start practising pranayama which is healing, relaxing and above all, is free.

6. Ok, now take a piece of paper and write down all the negatives of smoking. You are going to read this loud to yourself everyday.

7. Carry a mint with you and chew it whenever you feel like smoking.

8. Once you start skipping your smoke you will begin to face certain unpleasant reactions from your body which are called withdrawal symptoms. A tea with ginger/ peppermint/ chamomile can aid you then. Ginseng, Malabar Tamarind, Wild Oats, Valerian Root and
St. John's wort are some herbs that can help your decision to stop smoking.

Now, get a dental clean up and enjoy smiling.

If you do not smoke, you may circulate this amongst your friends and relatives, who do. more

Useful post for all more
At the end of every day, I would suggest, just keep noting the amount of money you have spent in buying your requirement of cigarettes for the day. Keep entering daily. At the end of the month add up the total and see how much is spent. Now go back and try to recollect since when you have started smoking and how much money you have smoked away ! Check up the total amount of MONEY SMOKED AWAY !! May be you could have bought a car or a bike or whatever than spending money on smoking and damaging your lungs and your health ! more
