First, hope they don't go bust, then who would we go to for bargains? But having said that, we must remember that Flipkart and its ilk are just shopkeepers where both they and their associates, sell, albeit virtually. It is likely that the massive hoopla being created will sure ensure the demise of many of these kind of virtual shops in the years to come and will also consolidate other strong ones who have deep pockets and can trudge on. while the concept of online retailing is great, the drama around it and the hype is amazing...imagine, the owners have become $ billionaires by now. There's so much money pumped in, there's hardly any accountability. It reflects the trend of 'much money chasing paltry opportunities.' But someday the bubble will burst and if flipkart holds on till then, they would have made it. more
The promoters and investor in flipkart are a greedy lot.Their valuations are manipulated and hence their downfall is imminent.Where is the wealth generation in their business model.?? more
There is a over valuation of the lots of E-commerce companies. Flipcart is one of them more
*sorry too many typos.... I am not sure, whether it is bubble no 1. But what I see is mushrooming of ecommerce portals is not sustainable. It will be like ".com" revolution that happend in last decade, and finally those with real strenght will continue and wrest woll wither away. Same thing is going to happen for online shopping portals. One need to be cautious, if investing in such companies. more
