Is FSSAI trying to cut off BIS

So FSSAI is trying to seek comments from people whether BIS certification is needed for sale of food/beverage products in India.

Both FSSAI and Bureau of Indian Standards are agencies. Why cant they sort amongst themselves than going to public.

For instance packaged water has a BIS standard. Why does FSSAI standard matter on water?

There should be clear distinction, where BIS standard to be followed, where FSSAI to be followed, unless they cover different things. more

To clear you that BIS governing standards and not procedures or not HACCP or not Biological threats. Whereas FSSAI is an Act for action of BIS standards with HACCP & Biological threat dealing. more

I think FSSAI certification is for ensuring water quality and ISI mark is for the quality of plastic bottle On Tue, 23 Jan 2018 14:10:37 +0530 Vinita Agrawal wrote > more
Why BIS is included? Earlier Aag mark was used for certifying quality of Food products. Why the agency is not strengthened to expand it's activities. CFTRI is also there, which is specifically framed for food and processing of food products. Besides, Ministry of Food processing is already dealing with the subject and professional institutes are established in connection to food products(raw & Processed food). These agencies should be invited to frame policy & standards instead of BIS. more
FSSAI OFFICIALS sitting in an office and dealing papers CANT SOLVE !They have to make 'SURPRISE CHECKS' and that will generate employment potential too! THEY HAVE TO REMEBER THAT WHILE RESPECTING EACH CITIZEN cant take the businessmen as HONEST in their deals! APPLY COMMON SENSE IN ALL MATTERS !ONLY LAWS CANT MAKE THINGS STRAIGHT! more
