Is GST applicable to Co-operative Hsg. Soc.

Recently my building co-op Hsg. Soc. started adding 9.5 + 9.5 percent GST in member's bills. This does not appear to be correct. Society is a collective body of members, paying to society is like paying to yourself. It collects funds from members to pay to other service providers like power supply, municipal corporation etc. No GST should be applicable on the payments by members to society , because it like paying to yourself. For example, when you eat at a restaurant, you pay GST as restaurant is service provider but you don't have to pay GST when you eat home cooked food. Chs. is not a service provider to it's members, it is members themselves. Therefore no GST should be charged.Members pay for the GST charged by service providers, like contractors, power company etc., to the society.
Will a competent authority clarify the matter.

A Cooperative society has been considered as a person under section 2(83) of CGST act 2017 and the services provided by Housing society is also considered as business covered under the term supply under GST. In case where the total turnover of the Society is MORE than Rs. 20 lacs and it collects more than Rs. 5000 PER MEMBER AND PER MONTH as MAINTENANCE CHARGES, then the society will have to take registration and has to charge GST @ 18%. Rs. 5000 maintenance charge include the common charges charged by Society from its member like parking charges, maintenance charges of common use and so on. more
Property Tax payments, water charges and electricity charges are not included for the purpose Rs.5000/- Sinking Fund collection also should not be included, which is subject interpretations. more
yes if it is less than Rs 5000 no GST is chargeable as it is exempted supply under notification no 12/ 2017 more
The word is 20 lakhs and Rs 5000 per member .. the word is and not or. so if it is less then rs5000 per month per member it is not chargeable more
