Is Media playing it's role in today's governance ?
Most of the channels are bought of by Corporate Houses (close to some or other party) like ABP belongs to Sahara Group, Rajdeep Sardesai moved out of IBN & related channels after control bought over by Reliance, and similarly other channels also.
I do not know which Media Channel is unbiased and gives all perspectives of news/debates/interviews ? DD News is also biased for whoever is ruling party. This is not journalism.
If AAP is voted to power in Lok Sabha (for example in next elections), then what steps can be taken to control this dominance of Corporate Houses and Political Parties on India's Media. more

Media will always remain a challenge for AAP, because Media is deeply controlled by either Congress or BJP. If AAP gets a chance to rule, it will have huge impact on the functioning of Congress and BJP also from within. AAP is like a FILTER OF POLITICS for Indians. more

In ALL state elections which BJP recently won, channels (IBN7, CNN-IBN, CNBC-Awaaz, CNBC TV18, among others) owned by Reliance Group played a major part by favouring BJP in Exit Polls. On 4 March 2014, Anil Ambani's Reliance Infrastructure (which owns BSES that used electricity meters supplied by companies owned by Dr. Satish Upadhyaya in recent past) filed Rs. 100 crore defamation suit against AAP in High Court. On 18 December 2014, AAP gave a press conference against Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio on the 4G issue and demanded the dismissal of Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. In coming state elections, will Reliance use the control it enjoys in Indian Media (including many news channels) to divert votes towards BJP (and against AAP). If BJP gets majority in these elections then will it try to use it's power (Central Govt., Media, State Govt.) against AAP party ? The way things are unfolding, this is how it seems to be. Is this plutocracy or democracy ? more

Every corporate is not against honest people. In fact most of the corporates nowadays look for honest people. The problem is with the functioning of government. Every corporate has to struggle with getting things done from government. Tata Nano plant closed in Bengal in spite of valid agreements from farmers who sold their land with free will. Likewise there are countless examples. This is why Corporate Houses are fighting for themselves by investing in Political Parties and Media. Is there any other way out for Corporates to get something done from government (or prevent from harassment at the hands of Government and Media) ? more

No matter how wise people are, no matter how much we educate the next generation of wrongdoings, TV always plays it's part. It is this TV News which changes the mentality of illiterate people, because for them it is their only medium for education. For all age groups, TV News always has considerable impact. Because the news channels are filled with abusive language, cheap talks, biased behavior of anchors, it is deteriorating our society every single moment. Only God knows when that day will come when TV News in India will be recommended as education for everyone. I wish I see that day in this life. more
