FSSAI is a huge organization with powers to issue Licenses to the Entrepreneurs of food Manufacturers, Traders. They will be small, medium , large .
Does the responsibility of the FSSAI get over there ?
OR WILL IT BE LIKE THE TAMILNADU FOOD SAFETY DEPARTMENT THAT RAIDED THE ERRING EATERIES , HOTELS AS IN THE ATTACHED FILE. ?
This is a question being raised very often in the circles about the role of the FSSAI. We are still not sure where to look for when there are Questions on Quality as well as Quantity . The circle can inform us about this before the hapless consumer who is reluctant to go to court .
If there is no redressal from the authorities than more consumers will resort to the judgement from Courts than looking at proper functioning. So better get the Team boosted for good results expected by the Consumers.

Recently I looked at the ration rice that my house-worker has purchased from the local ration shop. It was unbelievable how bad the rice was. These can only be used as animal feed and the government ration shops are selling them to humans. I can bet you, the good stuff supplied by Govt is being sold at higher prices in other stores. more

Is it to believe that, just 800 Kg. of food was unhygienic? As per the NEWS item, this raid was conducted at Broadways bus stand on a specific day. Is one raid at one place enough to feather the cap of FSSAI? Will FSSAI ever act beyond this? more

One of the tragedies in India is we have plethora of rules, regulations, laws and legislation. These cover significant power to regulate the concerned activity. But the there is no assessment of the volume of work pressure and the size of the organization necessary to properly implement the acts. Every department claims to be understaffed. Govt declares the vacancies lying vacant for years on end. Declaration of vacancies is again not based upon the evaluation of the activity but ad-hoc. So when this site was started I put a query as to the organization, functions responsibilities and infrastructure like laboratories, field staff etc so that we can make demands for the services. Unfortunately, neither the information or the link from which I can get it. more

FSSAI can not have supervision at the all the manufacturing centers. more

Can it monitor Organized sector at least. to start with? Or will keep sleeping on the pretext of lack of resources? more

Unless the States mandates their Secretariats and Staff under Public Administration , Constitutional Directives also become helpless . more
