It is better to avoid use of mobile phones during thunderstorm and rains

A news report appeared wherein a user of the mobile died while using in the rain. The video is posted here. It is better if we can avoid use of mobile during thunderstorm and rains to protect ourselves from the possibilities of electrical shocks. The possibility of electrical shocks is not ruled out as the electrical and electronic instruments are many times being heard to be getting damaged during lightening. more

During the early days of mobile use introduction to college youth a young girl was keeping a half a dozen mobiles in her custody while her class mates were frolicking on Chowpathy Beach, Mumbai. She was charred to death on the beach when lightning hit her. We are vulnerable because the mobile transmission towers are focal points for lightning to hit, thereby targeting the user/holder. During thunderstorms it is better to switch off the mobile when outside, and to stay indoors as far as possible. Also I see many Nepali youths surfing on internet on mobiles under a huge avenue tree opposite my residence even in rainy weather. I always warn them to go indoors to avoid the danger of a lightning strike. L.Kalavathi Retd. Bank Official Chennai, Tamilnadu, India 14th June, 2018 more
Yes Veeramani Sir how many people heed this more
RTO Officer...hmmm...maybe it was payback time for misdeeds and punishment from God. Not just thunderstorm and rains, one should not use mobiles especially for a selfie near any high voltage current lines at Railway Stations...there was an incident of a youth getting electrocuted when taking a group photo in his mobile and he had moved right under a high voltage feeder to get the whole group in view but the moment the mobile flashed to take a pic,it created an electrical passage for the high voltage surge which went through the mobile and electrocuted the college youth. more
People know about these things. They are just mighty careless. more
The author has no knowledge of lightnings and that there is no connection with the person talking on a mobile. The battery in most mobiles are of 0.3 mili ampere, electronic devised do not work either high voltages of high currents whic are reuired for many gadgets and big power consuming projects. It is ridiculous to think that the deceased died because of he was talking over the mobile. There was lightning whe he was talking in an vast open area with no tall structures present nearby and hisbfamily members standind a distance aware were insured by the sparks. It is foolish to assume that talking over a mobile caused the death.Lightenings invariably strike the tallest structures like antennas, tall buildings, very tall unprotected buildings of tall trees located in open areas.Almost all of our household electrical and electronic gadgets,Lifts,Generators, etc are protected by proper Earthings. Even Electronic gadgets are earthed through their chasis. Please donot post matter that exposes your lack of basic knowledge, information and ignorance. Many illiterate people will get misguided. more
