It is necessary to review the whole education system, especially up to SSC level. The two flaws apparent are 1) the system of so called trained teachers who get admission to d.ed or b.ed courses after paying hefty donations. Do we really such people to teach values and good knowledge of subjects to the students? A teacher is good only when he is a teacher by inclination and not compulsion to earn money at any cost.
2) The sheer number and weight of books and notebooks that the students, especially till primary and even secondary level are required to carry can at the most make them good power lifters if not students. This needs to be trimmed to bare minimum.

it is high time we take interest in imparting quality education at primary level as that is the foundation of what and how the student will imbibe what has been taught to him in future. It is also necessary to incetivize teachers for their ability to teach in a manner that is absorbed by students without getting pressurized. it is also necessary to stop using teachers as poll enumerators and general servants for bringing school students to attend political rallies or other functions and make them feel proud to be known as some one who mould our future generation.
The current system of asking those with connection to write books for schools be stopped and that job be given to those who have themselves been top class teachers.

I know this is a tall order, but if we take a first little step then rest will come in time. more

Chandrashekhar Ji, nice to see you on this forum! I agree with your views. Also I would like to add - having spent lakhs as donations and fees in Medical colleges - Doctors who then treat patients cannot be angels - they will try hell and what nots to fleece the public! more
Agree with you sir.. moreover in our education system our village folk are imparted bookish knowledge and not the value of fertility of soil in their own backyard, how proper sanitation could be done at minimal cost and why it is necessary, the types of grain they could grow, the value of carpentry work in international mkts, the types of pottery work that could be done, the intircate handloom designs,,nobody values the production of organic manure that would make the hands dirty but give us chemical free healthy food but we are taught about cocoa in ghana or sheep rearing in australia but not how to keep our our own bulls healthy or how to increase the producution of milk.. more
Agree. I have seen a great decline in value between my generation and that of my childs. Our teachers are neither outcome-driven nor process-driven. People who end up as teachers are often failed attempts of becoming doctors and engineers. Good teaching will stimulate career ambition of children to be teachers. more
