There is no uniform system in levying charges by banks.
If I am depositing cash into the account belonging to distant branch, many banks do not charge anything but couple of banks( such as JKBANK) charge 57 rupees for a transaction.
Some banks charge for the cheque Books and some charge per leaf.
Department of Consumer Affairs in conjunction with RBI must come up with a uniform charge list displayed conspiquously in every bank branch.
There was a court ruling that " it's the seller who has to provide the consumer free the bag or container to carry the goods".
Banks need to provide the cheque Books, withdrawal slips etc free of charge to the bank customers. Again some banks are giving it free and others are charging. There should be no charges in savings accounts.
All super markets sell bags to carry goods. Instead of 1 to 2 rupee coins, they give candies(of their choice). What's this? Where is the expiry date, composition, MRP and GST for these candies?
The sweet makers in Delhi do not weight the packet along with the sweets but in all other cities the packet is weighed and charged the price of sweets. Not only that, the packets are intentionsly made heavier. more

Yes. There are various discrepancies in implementation. As far as the banks are concerned, let RBI issue uniform guidelines On all other points, let the concerned department initiate steps. more

Consumers will never be protected in a mixed economy as practiced up to now. All commercial activities including Railways, Healthcare & Education should be privatized. Govt. should be only governing what it is supposed to do. Full plan is available on request more

The banks have liberty to charge for particular services. It is for customers to select suitable bank. One can negotiate about the services with the bank manager or change the banker. I support the policy that customers should get their bag to carry purchases out of the shop and the shops not providing additional carry bags. It is with the aim to reduce generation of waste and to encourage use of recyclable material to preserve the environment. The shop and manufacturers are responsible only to provide suitable packaging of the product, not its carrying to home. The customer can use trolley etc to take the products out of the premises. more

All NPAs are because of the Government. The whole decision of nationalization of the Banks was wrong to start with. The PSU Banks were looted by the political parties over the years through indirect influence. This is an open secret. Presently, infrastructure related NPAs is because of mis-management of the Govt. itself past or present. Settling of NPAs is the duty of the political parties who got benefited. more
