Opposition whoo seek impeachment have several points to be considered. To raise question against anybody is their right. But the matter is being in the post chief in apex court on moral ground should give up the post immediately the day one ask question in his integrity. more

The GOI is at fault for not expanding the benches by appointment of more judges instead of sitting on the recommendations. We people are being taken for a ride by horrendous delay in achieving justice. What hope can there be for an incorrupt nation when judicial delay results in the victims avoiding the courts of justice and putting up with rampant injustices? L.Kalavathi Retd. There would have been better ,if disciplinary action could have been take against the persons who stepped out of the judiciary to face media and muddle the whole national social environment. more

But abinitio the action of the 4 judges was damaging to the institution of Supreme Court. The issues were not such & so serious as could not have been resolved by discussing with in the Supreme Court. The 4 judges have personal grudges against the CJI. In any other institution such a behavior would have invited major disciplinary proceedings.. more

The source of this dispute is the four dissenting judges going to the press instead of the collegium. The fierce fight by the judiciary to be independent of any political interference, when it stood up together on the National Judicial Commission issue. All this has gone down the drain by the farce of the 4 judges going public. I am afraid politics has taken over the judiciary and if corrective action is not taken by the Parliament by moving a impeachment motion against the 4 dissenting judges, it will now be a partial move. This is because only the Parliament has the authority to impeach judges of the Supreme Court. more

It seems that taking cue from the 50 IIM alumnus and Professors, now IIM-Bengaluru's Professors have written to PM castigating him for his lip service of sloganeering while on ground level the rapes and murders are putting the country to shame even in international arena. You could be reading it tomorrow while you think over this in advance. more

Nileshwar sir, people may be trying but we are not aware whether their efforts did not materialize due to bureaucracy and red tape. Now 50 - IITian's have come together quitting their MNC jobs to form a political party called: 'Bahujan Azad Party'. So we are now in transition from AAP to BAP. I am also member of an elite group of academics and one academician who also runs an NGO had sent several representation of his Economic Program entitled : How to Improve Farmers Income 4 Times and Stop Farmers Suicide. However he neither got a proper response nor a meeting with BJP Minister. So the slogans of Party when they want to conquer a frontier should not be taken as holy. more

Mr Stephen, about the 50 men who wrote to the PM makes no sense. When they were in power, how many of them put in their efforts to correct the system? Yes, they are people of repute who matter.
They restricted their services to their departments.They never plunged into the scene when they retired. They could have played an active part in correcting the system. This is what we lack.
No one was invited to join the freedom struggle. People came on their own.
They were not arm chair critics. This is what we need. They have the expertise. Why not put it to use for the cause of the nation instead of just complaining?
We have seen one such experiment called the AAP which has now turned into PAAP. We have wasted one more opportunity of correcting the system. AAP vowed not to enter politics but ultimately formed a Govt. with a majority better than Modi. Anna Hazare is now seen nowhere. more

Sorry to say that, the Learned members of the forum are discussing the matter without taking the merits of the matter in consideration. If we really need to discuss the matter, we should study the charges levied and then discuss the matter. In all fairness, after impeachment charges are levied against CJI, CJI should step down especially in view that he will anyway retire in October this year. Why does he want to continue for another 6 months or so? Any hidden agenda? more

This would destabilise the entire system. If you believe the VP to be impartial, then the matter ends there. If you do not, only God can help. more

Please study the charges before coming to a conclusion that the CJI should step down.. We are going to see in the near future a new trend where a group of 50 members facing serious criminal charges would come forward and malign and bring frivolous charges for impeachment against judges who might be nominated to hear their cases.. This is a dangerous precedent going to damage the judiciary irreparably.. Only the people of India can save it by voting against the persons/parties who have brought this ill conceived move of impeachment. more
